THE FIRST TIME I HEARD WILLG'S "SHOW ME LOVE" REMIX IT HAD ME SHOOK. THIS TRACK iS UNDENIABLY HARD AND REALLY ENJOYABLE, PERFECTLY BLENDING THE ORIGINAL TRACK WITH A NEW SOUND AND ENERGY THAT MAKES IT ITS OWN STRONG BODY OF WORK. IT FLOWS WELL AND SUITS ITS PURPOSE PERFECTLY - YOU CAN DANCE THE FUCK OUT OF IT.

AT ONLY 18 THIS FIRST TRACK FROM WILLG IS REALLY PROMISING, CONSIDERING THE HEIGHTS THAT KIDS SUCH AS MARTIN GARRIX HAVE REACHED DURING THE RAPID GROWTH OF DANCE AND EDM OVER THE LAST 5 YEARS. ALTHOUGH THIS IS A VERY EARLY STAGE IN WILLG'S HOBBY-TURNED-CAREER, ITS REALLY EXCITING TO SEE WHERE HIS TALENTS CAN TAKE HIM, WITH HELP FROM ..., THE LABEL HE RECENTLY SIGNED TO.

Here is my interview with WILLG:

WHEN WAS IT DECIDED THAT "SHOW ME LOVE WOULD BE THE FIRST TRACK YOU WOULD RELEASE?"

Show me love was the first release, now with over 100k views which was beyond what I imagined. I had the instrumental sitting for a while but this is how I met beave who I collabed with on the track. I sent him a message like a typical fanboy saying I loved his music etc so He said send the track over so he can do his things and a day later we had a finished track. It was the only track I had at the time. I had no other tracks so I was relying on it to bang.

AT WHAT AGE DID YOU START GETTING INTO MUSIC?

I started playing guitar when I was 5. By 11 years old I completed grade 6 classical guitar and being 11 at the time i wasn't really interested anymore so I switched to playing electric guitar. Then at 12 I did rap beats and metal then at 16 I started to make house music.

HAD YOU TRIED ANY OTHER MUSICAL ROUTES BEFORE DECIDING TO DJ?

The first time I started producing music was shortly after I started playing electric guitar (12ish). I loved metal music at the time and started to record songs for a bit of fun. Granted they were shit but you're always shit to start with. Fast forward to when I was 15 all i wanted to do was play in a band but it never happened. All I heard from musicians was talk but no actions. After a year of trying to find a band I nearly gave up on music all together. I produced rap beats before but no one really listens to them for general listening. The end goal is to be a full time artist but I thought playing in a band was the only way but when I was 16 i stumbled onto house music which can be done by one person and not relying on others and you can guess what happened from there. The end goal remains the same. It's just how you get there.

PLANS/GOALS FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS?

some of its pretty standard. I'm not keen on going to uni because I'll see it as a 60k party holiday so I will aim to get an apprenticeship in business management. This will guarantee me structure to my day so from 9-5 I will work then for the rest of the day I can purely focus on music. This will enable me to gain two incomes so if the music keeps progressing I may be able to do it full time. With regards to just music I would love to work my way up from dj ing at clubs to then one day play a festival which is the end goal.

What life experience did you learn from the most?

learning to surround yourself with good people.... Loyal people. Since the music started to kick off I started to see people appearing into my life again when i know truly they wouldn't be there for me if I didn't do music and by no means am I famous or upcoming etc I'm still the same person as I am now and that will never change. When these situations occur I don't act shady or anything like that because they still support my music which is great. It's just something to bare in mind. I realised also that people who offer you opportunities more than you deserve are also people you should never lose, for example beave who got me into futurism and Harley the owner .

DREAM COLLABORATION?

there are so many but I'll keep it outside of house artists such as Oliver Heldens, jack jones, dj ez, jauz etc. I would love to collaborate with Chris brown. His songs just have a good vibe feeling. Noah shebib (producer for drake) his work speaks for itself. skepta because people may seem him as a lyricist but he produces all his work as well. And last but not least Tinie tempah. He just knows what he's doing. I've seen him perform twice and hands down the best act I've ever seen I also rate artists on how they are as a person which is a bit random because i haven't met any of them but watching videos and documentaries of artists you can tell who's really is genuine and has a passion for music but at the end of the day there are too many collabs I would love to do. I listen to so many types of music so the ones I have mentioned are a small part of a very big list. Also I don't rate artists I want to collab with on popularity. If the music is good then that's all that is needed

DO YOU PLAN TO PLAY LIVE THIS YEAR?

yes 100%, I would love to do it with beave because without him I probably won't be as committed due to not getting my music out to wide audiences and not to be boastful because most people in my local town don't manage to gain an audience on a large scale so it can be demotivatING not seeing your music being listened too because there is a lot of talent in Colchester. I could only name Georgia box, beave and curbi as locals off the top of my head who get a large viewing. There are probably more but they are the only ones I know about.

BIGGEST REGRET?

not pulling the fit girl in my business class....
